The end of last year saw a very warm spell of weather and we were blessed with a temperature bordering 16 degrees Celcius for the carol singing on the Saturday, just before Christmas. It was probably our most successful carol singing event ever with record numbers of people singing their hearts out – ably led by Colette (big thank-you!) and Hidé playing the guitar (another big thank-you!). Colin the magician treated us to some fire juggling. Christmas lights were attached to the eight year old fir tree on Sussex Ring and I am pleased to announce that this year the tree has, for the first time, as far as I can recall, developed cones! All is well with our blue spruce!
Coffee and drinks were provided by Vero Caffé, with their compliments, and we are extremely grateful to Vero Caffé for providing the drinks and staff. Thank you very much and I hope everyone who reads this will support their café during this coming year.
The children sung “Silent Night” and “Jingle Bells” with great gusto and were rewarded with sweets. There was some scotch whiskey for the adults and all-in-all it was a joyous afternoon. Thanks to everyone who helped and to everyone who attended to make it a memorable occasion, made all the more memorable because the occasion was attended by people from all denominations and religions. We, in Woodside Park, could show the world a thing or two about living in peace and harmony.
